Well the first show went off without a hitch! I had a few problems getting back into the groove of things, I apologize, but once I got back on track things went really well! As you like it

Tonight is the kick off my first show, Psychotic Mood Swings. I am pretty sure that I will not have many listeners tonight, due to the lack of advertising, but in the next few weeks things are really going to start picking up. I will post later my play list and the link to the show. As for right now, if you have access to HD radio you may tune in to 101.9 (2) fm or you may go to this link http://wdetfm.org/listenlive/ at 2 a.m. (EST). The show will last 3 hours and conclude at 5 a.m. If you have a request, please e-mail me and I will do my best to play it. Also in the near future the shows will be archived. Please tune in and show some support. If you are out and about in Detroit tonight, November 22 (my birthday) stop by Oslo for the Electrobounce party happening tonight.

Toronto

With the end of November approaching, Toronto is now just a mere month away! My sister and I for the last several years have attended Toronto for NYE and we are now trying to make it a tradition. With the numbers growing each year, this year hopes to be the best and most rewarding. We are taking people who have been with us in year's past and we are taking fresh fish as well. Why you ask, well the answer lies within the Social. Possibly one of the most unique nightclubs/bars that I have ever been to. Located in the heart of Queen West, the Social is very unique because right next door to it is the ever popular 69 Vintage, a very cool clothing boutique. Surrounded by art galleries, low end restaurants and gorgeous apartment and loft spaces, the Social is within walking distant for most patrons or a quick taxi ride across town. The inside has a very grimey, industrial feel with exposed pipes and fuse boxes, while also keeping a traditional lounge look to it. A lounge area with plush couches overlooks the small, but somewhat spacious dance floor. What I like most about the Social is the DJ booth is right smack dab in the center of it all at floor level, this gives a very interpersonal vibe that many patrons feel adds to the nostalgic and dynamic feel of the club. Aside from the architecture, the patrons and the staff are just beautiful people! While the general demographic is for the Toronto debutantes, many sneaker freakers tend to make their way in to add to the diversity of the club. My only complaint is that the ticket prices are absurd. We paid $50 last year and the year before to see Flosstradamus and Diplo. But this year is different, I mean we are talking about Kavinsky. So if anyone wants to go we have 10 tickets available and they are at a substantial discount, as well as a substantial discount on our hotel as well. Please get at me.

Madonna

Sorry it has been a hot minute for all 7,985 of my readers. So yeah tonight I am going to see Madonna with my dear friends Heather, Rianna and kid sister. Details at 11. I am also working with my new partner Emeka on our show, which should be airing this Saturday night/Sunday morning at 2 a.m. (EST). I will post the link once the details are finalized. The show is called Psychotic Mood Swings and will feature a rare blend of ambient, dub, trip hop and whatever else classifies as electronic music. I urge you to listen to it.

Make sure you support your local music too. Unfortunately I cannot make it to Passport Tuesdays at the Bosco, first one I have missed in quite sometime. I know it's only Tuesday and all, but seriously if you want a good time I must insist you head out to the Bosco. DJ Brian Gillespie kills it and he has been doing it for a long time. I used to listen to him back in high school on Friday nights when he DJ'ed on 89x. So show some love and support. Detroit has got a huge talent pool and nobody appreciates it until it is dead and gone.

And last but certainly not least, congratulations to my dear friends who put on Funk Night. For those of you who don't know Funk Night was given the distinct honor of being awarded the 2008 "best party in America" by Paper Magazine.

Detroit What?!

Photobucket

I attended Wayne State University for I don't know how many years, I used to skate in Detroit, I try to be actively in Detroit and I have always been a huge sucker for the beauty and essence the city possesses. I have now been home from Traverse City for little over a month now and in that time period my appreciation for Detroit has ten-folded. I have been meeting more and more people that believe in this city like I do and I believe that signs of life are appearing. I am seeing more development occur, more aged buildings being knocked down or renovated and the overall attitude of Detroit is progressing. The fact of the matter is the country, the state of Michigan and most importantly the city of Detroit are in an economic debacle that this country has not seen since the 1930's. With the recent Kwame Kilpatrick episode that plagued our lives for the last ten months, a new interim mayor and now a young eager president elect, many people have reason to believe that the city of Detroit may once again flourish and become the city it once was. I am one of those people. There is so much raw potential and true passion that this great city has produced and keeps producing. I believe that we have a new generation of individuals that are willing to help make this city an intricate part of the United States. Detroiters are tough, while the country has been in a downfall for the last eight years, Detroit has been in a downfall for the last thirty plus years, we are used to a challenge. Detroit has been through thick and thin, but we are seeing old buildings renovated, world-wide events calling Detroit a home and the changes that go unheard of each and every day but we know they are there. It's cities like Cleveland and Pittsburgh that makes me believe that Detroit is capable of a renaissance. You can say what you want to say about the "D," but the mere fact is I am proud to call it home. This is a call to all artists, musicians, entrepreneurs and others that call Detroit home, now is the time to reestablish this city. Detroit has character and it's because of people like you that will help make the city once again thrive. Hold on Detroit the next few years are going to be exciting: we are going to see a new model of mass transit that Detroit has not seen in many years, a new look to the busiest United States/Canada border crossing, a newly expanded Cobo Arena, more movies being filmed here, the Final Four of college basketball, a new Quicken Loans headquarters and a new line of automobiles that will take the world by storm! I myself am a poster child for ADD, but I think now more than ever it's important to learn the word P-A-T-I-E-N-C-E.

Tuesdays at the Bosco

Tonight is Tuesday, which means Passport at the Bosco in Ferndale. This is good time. We try to make it every Tuesday night because drinks are cheap, the music is good and the vibe is fantastic. Brian Gillespie shows why he is a walking music encyclopedia, as he plays a very ecletic range of music. This is a do not miss. If you can't make it tonight, show some support for DJ Frankie Bank$ as he makes his debut at the Bosco this Friday.
